The Innovation Commission for Climate Change, Food Security, and Agriculture joined the event “Scaling Evidence-Based Policy Innovation” on October 15, 2025 during the 2025 World Bank Group Annual Meetings. The event, co-hosted by the Center for Global Development (CGD) and the University of Chicago’s Development Innovation Lab, brought together researchers and policymakers to examine lessons from research-policy collaborations that have already improved millions of lives around the world.

Professor Michael Kremer, Chair of the Innovation Commission, delivered the keynote address in which he discussed institutions for innovation including government innovation units and open, tiered, evidence-based social innovation funds.

The event also featured a panel discussion with Muhamad Chatib Basri (Visiting Scholar at the Harvard Center for International Development, former Minister of Finance of Indonesia, and former Chairman of the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board), Jose Carlos Chavez Cuentas (Former Vice Minister of Finance, Ministry of Economy and Finance Lab, Peru), Rema Hanna (Professor of Southeast Asia Studies, Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University), Sasha Gallant (Former Chief, DIV at USAID; Founding Member, Project Resource Optimization), and Amanda Glassman (Executive Advisor to the President, Inter-American Development Bank) as well as opening remarks by Rachel Glennerster (President, Center for Global Development)
