The Innovation Commission for Climate Change, Food Security, and Agriculture participated in the 58th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) from May 4 to 7, 2025, in Milan, Italy.

Professor Michael Kremer, Chair of the Innovation Commission, delivered a keynote lecture at the ADB seminar titled ‘Transforming Food Systems for the Future of Asia and the Pacific‘ on May 7, 2025. The lecture highlighted the transformative potential of AI and digital technologies in reshaping agrifood systems.

The seminar, opened by ADB President Masato Kanda and moderated by Shenggen Fan (Chair Professor and Dean, Academy of Global Food Economics and Policy, China Agricultural University), also featured Yvonne Pinto (Director General, International Rice Research Institute), Qu Dongyu (Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations), Sulton Rahimzoda (Alternate Governor for Tajikistan, ADB; and Chair of the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management, Tajikistan), Álvaro Lario (President, International Fund for Agriculture Development), Cindy McCain (Executive Director, World Food Programme), and Asis G. Perez (Undersecretary for Policy, Planning, and Regulations, Department of Agriculture, Philippines).
