Emily Cupito is the Executive Director at DIL. In this role, she supports the work of the Innovation Commission on Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security; the Human Centered Forecast Initiative; the Weiss Fund for Research in Development Economics and the Market Shaping Accelerator. She also oversees the Lab’s research portfolio which includes a large number of projects including research on safe water, agricultural innovations, ed tech, and health interventions in schools. Emily also led a systematic review of evidence in education for the Global Education Evidence Advisory Panel. She is passionate about helping to facilitate the scale up of evidence-based innovations, and she is particularly interested in helping governments to be more effective.
Before joining DIL, Emily spent a decade in Africa, where she most recently led J-PAL Africa’s policy team. In collaboration with Indian NGO Pratham, her team helped found Teaching at the Right Level Africa, which has reached over 5 million students.
Emily has a Master’s in Public Policy from Duke University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Public Policy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
